Here’s Why Eating Gluten Is Dangerous For Your Health

The Danger Revealed

The Journal of the American Medical Association published a study wherein they found out that aside from people with celiac disease, ‘latent’ carriers of the disease have higher risk of dying due to cancer and heart disease.

The study revealed  that whether a person may have a full-blown celiac disease, gluten sensitivity, or just an inflamed intestine exacerbated by gluten, food containing gluten still prove to be dangerous for people of all ages.

Specifically, the study showed the increased risk of dying for each case by consuming gluten:

  1. Individuals with a full blown celiac disease, 39 percent;
  2. Individuals with gluten sensitivity or latent celiac disease, 35 percent;
  3. Individuals with an inflamed intestine but not a full-blown celiac disease, 72 percent.

What is more frightening is the fact that most people do not know that they are allergic to gluten, making it an even more serious health problem for most.

Health Problems Caused By Gluten

Gluten is a protein that can be found in many food products, which are also diet staples of most people. These include flour, barley, wheat, cornstarch, potatoes, and rice. Apparently, all of these are raw materials used to make other food products.

The New England Journal of Medicine actually identified 55 diseases caused by eating gluten. These include anemia, anxiety and depression, cancer, fatigue, migraines, multiple sclerosis, nerve damage, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and the more common abdominal pains to name a few.

This does not necessarily mean that gluten is the culprit of all health problems you might be experiencing right now. But the fact that it makes your body weaker and more susceptible to having health problems is a good enough reason why you should consider a gluten-free diet.
