b-complexThe B-complex vitamins are a mixture of the eight essential B vitamins. These vitamins are required on a daily basis for our bodies to properly function. It was first believed that there was only one B vitamin, however later studies on the vitamin were able to differentiate it into eight different vitamins. Hence, the B-complex vitamins were formed. It also helps in metabolizing carbohydrates, protein and fat. This vitamin is good for the improving skin blemishes, preventing cataracts and managing migraines.B3 or Niacin promotes good skin as well as lowers cholesterol. Additionally, it has been used in depression treatment, arthritis treatment and helps with insomnia.B5 or Pantothenic Acid is vital for a healthy central nervous system. This vitamin also promotes energy production, fights chronic fatigue, allergies, heartburn, and manages migraines.B6 or Pyridoxine is used throughout the various functions in the body. It is an important coenzyme for several different enzymes and plays a huge role in the formation of red blood cells. It is also used in stabilizing homocysteine levels to prevent heart disease. It also helps to form proteins and neurotransmitters.B12 is essential in preventing pernicious anemia and pairs with other B vitamins to promote energy production.B7 or Biotin helps the body activate protein / amino acid metabolism in the hair roots and fingernail cells to achieve healthy hair and nails.Folic Acid or B9 is vital in women who are trying to conceive or who are pregnant, particularly during the first three months of the pregnancy, as this is when the majority of the fetus growth occurs. Folic acid at this time will help to prevent birth defects, especially those involving the neural tube. Folic acid can also be used in stabilizing homocysteine levels in the blood, which helps to prevent heart disease.The B vitamins are often sold as a unit.
