Antioxidants are important in the body because there are a variety of different free radicals that develop and circulate throughout the body. At the biological level, free radicals are formed due to weak bonds in molecules that break. Free radicals are very unstable and can cause many issues within the body, mostly cause oxidation to occur. To rid the body of these free radicals, you need antioxidants.Many free radicals are formed normally in metabolism. However, there are times when the body’s immune system’s cells create free radicals in neutralizing viruses and bacteria. Environmental factors also cause free radicals including:

Vitamin A and a variety of other vitamins are excellent antioxidants that help the body rid these free radicals.When vitamin A is in its raw form of beta-carotene it will help to neutralize free radicals. Studies show us that beta-carotene and vitamin A can prevent LDL cholesterol from harming the heart and blocking the coronary blood vessels. Vitamin A will help you to inhibit the growth of abnormal cells, strengthens the immune system and it also helps with cellular functions. Additionally, vitamin A helps to prevent against other conditions that are known to be caused by oxidation in the body, including various cancers, such as:

  • Breast
  • Prostate
  • Lung
  • Bladder
  • Digestive Tract

By utilizing vitamins that are antioxidants, such as vitamin A, you are able to control the amount of free radicals that are able to wreak havoc on the normal cells in the body. The free radicals in the body cause cells to form abnormally and then lead to the proliferation of these cells, such as tumors and other cancerous growths.In addition to vitamin A, you can also fight off free radicals with vitamin E and vitamin C. Both of these vitamins have antioxidant properties that help to protect you against cardiovascular disease and cancer.
